Say Good-Bye To The Empty Chair

I first heard Obama speak almost exactly 10 years ago at the Jefferson-Jackson dinner (an annual Virginia Democrat Party affair at which my firm always paid for a table). I admit to being curious as to what all the buzz about, he being touted as a "rising star."

His speech certainly roused the crowd to repeated standing O's, but I came away with the distinct impression that the man talked pretty but said nothing.

Forty five minutes of lofty platitudes without any substance whatsoever, and they loved every minute of it. Ten years on and nothing has changed.

He still says nothing and they hang on his every nothingness. Goodbye, empty chair. You won't be noticed by history except for the color of your skin.
