Muslim Immigration Ban Would Be Lawful

Donald Trump was recently criticized for suggesting that the U.S. should limit or temporarily suspend the immigration of certain ethnic groups nationalities, and even people of certain religions (Muslims) the criticisms condemned such a suggestion as, among other things, being Un- American", dumb, stupid, reckless, dangerous and racist

The McCarran-Walter Act, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 was meant to exclude certain immigrants from immigrating to America, post World War II and in the early Cold War.

The McCarran-Walter Act focused upon denying immigrants who were unlawful, immoral, diseased in any way, politically radical etc.. Furthermore, the most notable exclusions were anyone even remotely associated with communism which in the early days of the Cold War was seen as a serious threat to US democracy.

I would point out historically, that U.S. Code Law 1182, passed in 1952 by a Democratic House and Senate said the President of the United States has authority to bar immigrants from any country, regardless of race or religion if he believes they represent a threat to the United States…

This was used by President Jimmy Carter to ban Iranians from coming here and was used to deport several thousand Iranian students (after the Hostage taking). … When people call Trump a nut-case for saying ‘no more Muslims until we figure this out', he stands on law.
